CARA trEACy's Life Story
Cara grew up in West Chester, PA, and started in front of the camera at a very early age. She was a baby model for clothes and commercials for QVC and believes that this early exposure to TV fostered her love of acting and performing. At the age of 3, Cara’s mom enrolled her in her first ballet class at the Rock School West. She continued to dance here growing up, performing in Nutcrackers, competitions, and recitals.
After training in various styles of dance, Cara decided to focus on ballet and left traditional high school at the age of 16 to attend the Rock School for Dance Education’s Professional Training division (a full-time ballet program). She competed in Youth American Grand Prix, performed at the Mann Music Center and the Miriam Theater, and did various outreach performances for local schools. At 17, Cara signed with a dance agency in NYC and was a featured dancer in a Nedgroup Associates Commercial. In her senior year of high school, Cara was one of the 100 students selected for The Disney Dreamers Academy, a four day leadership program at Disney World, sponsored by Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine. The next year, Cara was invited back as one of the five champions, or ambassadors, for the program. She was featured in a segment on the Steve Harvey Show where she mentored a young aspiring dancer.
Cara has had the honor of being in Ballet San Antonio and Connecticut Ballet where she performed in productions such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. After moving to NYC, Cara discovered that her true passion and gifts lied in musical theater after being inspired by Alan Cumming and Emma Stone’s performance in the musical, Cabaret. She knew that her heart belonged to the Broadway stage and she wanted to inspire others with theater in the way that Alan and Emma moved her. Cara also feel in love with On-Camera acting for tv/film and is pursuing a career in musical theater as well as film and television. She studies voice with Paul Lincoln and Acting at Mel Mack Acting Studio while taking daily dance classes at STEPS and Broadway Dance Center.
In her free time (not that there is much of it!) you’ll find Cara shopping at Topshop, catching up on “The Good Wife”, going to see Broadway shows, eating ice cream sundaes, and planning her yearly trip to Disney World!
She is proud to be a “New Yorker” now and loves life in the Big Apple!
